Amazon ships coffee too close to its "Sell By" date December 9, 2006 macbek 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This coffee would receive 5 stars, but Amazon Grocery does not. The 3 bags I ordered 11/28/2006 were received 12/6/2006 and two of them have "Guaranteed fresh until" dates of 12/17/2006 and the third bag's date is 1/24/2007. A bag of the exact same coffee purchased at my local store last week is dated 3/19/2007. I have ordered direct from Green Mountain's Coffee Club and they always shipped bags with dates that were at least 3 to 4 months in the future. I had planned to give some of the bags as holiday gifts, but it wouldn't look good to give something that appears to expire before Christmas. Amazon Grocery items cannot be returned, so think carefully before you buy. If Amazon Grocery needs to clear out merchandise that's nearing its "Sell By" date, they should discount it and clearly indicate the reason why. Yes, I know full well that food items can be used past those dates, but I would never knowingly choose to pay regular price for these items in a bricks-and-mortar store, so I resent being forced to take them by Amazon Grocery. It would take a major Customer Service effort to convince me to purchase any more Amazon Grocery items. Trying to search Customer Service and Help to register this very unfavorable feedback is a nightmare. I used the Call Me option and although the Customer Service person Robert was sympathetic and tried to be helpful, he suggested that I register my feedback through the Recommendations section (which didn't make sense to me when I looked at the Subject Line options it offered).
